There is no business tier. Here is what there is.
Most products in this category would sell you a plan at this point. Tesseract does not have one, so this page is an honest account of what a team can and cannot do with it today.
What works for a team.
Run your own relay
The relay source is published and self-hostable. Your traffic never has to touch infrastructure we operate, which is the part that usually matters to a security team.
No phone numbers to collect
Accounts are not tied to numbers, so onboarding someone does not mean putting their personal mobile in a directory.
EU-hosted, GPL-licensed
The relay we operate runs in the EU. The source is GPL-3.0, so you can read it, fork it, and keep running your fork if we disappear.
Duress PIN and expiry by default
Useful for staff who travel through borders, and for reducing how much history exists to be requested in the first place.
What does not exist.
If any of these are requirements, Tesseract is not ready for your organisation and you should not pilot it.
No admin console
No central user management, no provisioning, no remote wipe, no policy enforcement. Every install is an individual.
No SSO, SAML or SCIM
There is no directory integration of any kind.
No compliance tooling
No retention controls, no legal-hold, no archive or eDiscovery export. Messages expire by default, which is the opposite of what most compliance regimes ask for.
No org-wide channels
Groups hold up to 200 people, but every member has to be admitted by the creator individually — there is no directory, no auto-join by domain and no broadcast channel. There is also no voice or video.
No independent audit
No third-party cryptographic audit has been carried out. Many procurement processes stop here, reasonably.
No support contract or SLA
No guaranteed response time, no account manager, no uptime commitment.
Who this actually suits. Small teams who need a channel that is not attached to anyone's phone number and are willing to run their own relay — newsrooms, legal and human-rights work, security research. Not a company replacing Slack. If you want to talk about self-hosting, the contact address is below; there is no sales team, just us.
